Food & Grocery Prep

Food Prep Done Right —
Zero Compliance Errors

Amazon food and grocery prep requires strict expiry date labeling, FIFO inventory management and category-specific handling. We do it right, every time.

⚠️ Why It Matters

Food & Grocery Products Are Different

Regular FBA prep won't cut it for food. Amazon has specific rules for consumables — and breaking them means suppressed listings, removal orders or account warnings.

Amazon Expiry Date Requirements — What You Must Know

Amazon requires that all food, grocery, health and beauty products with an expiry date be clearly labeled on the outer packaging before entering any fulfillment center. Products not meeting these requirements are refused at the door or disposed of at your expense.

The expiry date must be readable, in the correct format (MM-DD-YYYY or MM-YYYY), and positioned so it can be seen without opening the package. Amazon also requires a minimum remaining shelf life at the time of check-in.

⚠️

Non-compliant units are rejected at the FC or disposed — at your cost. This is not an area where mistakes are recoverable. We check every unit before it leaves our hands.

How It Works

Our Food Prep Process — Step by Step

From receiving your inventory to handing it off to the carrier for Amazon — every step verified, every unit compliant.

Step 1 — Receive inventory and verify lot and expiry data
1

Receive & Log Lot / Expiry Data

Your food inventory arrives at our Ohio warehouse. We receive each carton, photograph it, and immediately log the lot number and expiry date for every unit — building your FIFO queue from day one.

Step 2 — Inspect each unit and verify expiry compliance
2

Inspect & Verify Compliance

Every unit is checked for: visible expiry date in correct format, minimum shelf life remaining per Amazon's category requirements, no damage, seal integrity, and correct labeling. Anything that doesn't pass is flagged for your review before prep continues.

Seal and packaging integrity checked
Non-compliant units flagged with photos before action
Step 3 — Label, bag and prep units to Amazon standards

Label, Bag & Prep to Amazon Standards

Units that pass inspection are prepped: FNSKU labels applied, expiry dates made visible on outer packaging, poly-bagged where required, and "Ready to Ship" verified. We follow Amazon's food category prep guidelines exactly.

Step 4 — Pack into FBA cartons and ship to Amazon

Pack & Ship to Amazon FBA

Prepped units are packed into FBA cartons following Amazon's weight and dimension requirements. Carton labels applied, shipment plan confirmed, and handed to the carrier. Your inventory arrives at Amazon's FC ready to sell — with zero compliance issues.

FIFO & Batch Tracking — How We Protect Your Inventory

FIFO (First In, First Out) means the oldest inventory always ships first — preventing units from expiring in storage. This is critical for food sellers, and most prep centers don't do it properly.

We track every inbound by lot number and expiry date. When picking for FBA shipments or FBM orders, we always pull the earliest-expiring inventory first — automatically protecting your Amazon seller metrics and avoiding stranded stock.

FAQ

Common Questions About Food Prep

Amazon requires that food and grocery products have a minimum of 90 days of remaining shelf life at the time they are received at a fulfillment center. For some categories it's longer — supplements often require 150+ days. Products arriving with less than the required shelf life are refused or disposed at your expense. We check every unit before shipping to Amazon so this never happens.
No problem — this is a common situation. You tell us the expiry date (from your supplier's documentation or lot tracking), and we print and apply a compliant expiry date label to the outer packaging before sending to Amazon. The label is formatted exactly to Amazon's requirements and positioned so it's clearly visible.
FIFO stands for First In, First Out — meaning the inventory that arrived at our warehouse first (and therefore has the earliest expiry date) always ships before newer stock. Without FIFO, you risk sending near-expiry product to Amazon or to customers, which can trigger removals, bad reviews, and account warnings. We enforce FIFO automatically on every food account.
Yes — glass jars, bottles, and fragile food packaging are bubble-wrapped individually and packed with proper void fill to prevent breakage in transit. We follow Amazon's fragile item packaging requirements, which include double-boxing where necessary. Let us know your product dimensions when you request a quote and we'll confirm the right prep approach.
Yes. Supplements, vitamins, and health products are one of our most common food prep categories. We handle lot tracking, expiry verification, FNSKU labeling, and poly bagging per Amazon's health and beauty prep requirements. We stay current on Amazon's supplement category rules so your products are always compliant.
Units that fail inspection — due to insufficient shelf life, damaged packaging, missing expiry information, or other compliance issues — are immediately quarantined and photographed. We send you a detailed report with photos and wait for your instructions before taking any action. You decide whether to return them to the supplier, dispose, or hold for review.
